I just finished a new series of paintings that are now on display at The Actors Playpen, 1514 N. Gardner Street, Los Angeles, CA 90046.
For this series I wanted to combine the visual language of abstraction and illustration. Since this combination could potentially result in a large array of difference between each piece I gave myself a few simple guide lines. First I built the series around the architecture, or layout, of the space (a pentaptych for the large wall to the right, a triptych for the smaller wall to the left, a diptych for the hallway wall on the left intersected by a doorway, and a large piece for the hallway wall on the right). Second I used a monochromatic palette painted on wood panels that I built to utilize the natural wood grain.
Below is an image of the entire series. This way you can get an idea of the size and scale of each piece.
